PSO26 Multipen (EN/JP)
末尾に日本語訳があります
Why here and not in the official PSO26 rulebook?
I'm going to be honest, I just assumed the previous (PSO22) definitions were going to be used.
As for the criteria, I just went with last PSO criteria with a little arrangement in scores, took 2 points from originality and moved them to execution, since I think nowadays we can value execution a little more in multipen.
Here I'll put the full criteria taken from PSO22 rulebook. (with new score weights)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 3 traditional primary considerations of execution, difficulty and originality will be divided into superficial and deep aspects. While the subcriteria are scored out of 5 for ease of use, the weighting is adjusted for Multipen. Weighting for Multipen rewards exploration of new territory, while allowing for the understandably developing techniques in this path of pen spinning. Sum of weights makes a total of 6.0 x 5 points, for a maximum score of 30 points.
Execution: technique perfection weight 0.8x
Execution: effect weight 0.8x
Total execution related: 1.6x
Difficulty: hardness weight 1.0x
Difficulty: density weight 1.0x
Total difficulty related: 2.0x
Originality: novelty weight 1.2x
Originality: conception weight 1.2x
Total originality related: 2.4x
Execution
Superficial: Technique perfection - whether the tricks are performed properly - the mod’s rotations, the interactions between the mod and the fingers, whether the accelerations and decelerations are performed well.
0 to 2 points out of 5 - many large errors in interactions between mod and fingers (or one mod with the other), errors or inappropriately jerky speed changes
2.5 to 3.5 points out of 5 - some errors in technique
4 or more points out of 5 - few errors in technique
Deep: Effect - how visual elements come together to create the overall impressions of the combo. Visual elements are not necessarily what one finds subjectively appealing, and not strictly about whether there is exceptional technique perfection.
0 to 2 points out of 5 - visual elements give a disjointed impression
2.5 to 3.5 points out of 5 - some notable use of visual elements, visuals are not incoherent
4 or more points out of 5 - visuals complement each other in their performance and arrangement to create exceptional overall impression. e.g. RPD PSO20 multipen
Difficulty
Superficial: Hardness - how hard the breakdown is. Consider the mechanics shown and the precision required - margins of error for rotation speed, position of the mod/mods, and specific movements in tight timeframes. This subcriteria only considers how hard the breakdown is as a whole, it does not penalise a combo of filler - short hard sequence compared to a combo with same overall hardness but even distribution.
0 to 2 points out of 5 - average or below expected level of hardness when compared to XPXH combos in the current event, and recent events i.e. WT25 and PSO22
2.5 to 3.5 points out of 5 - above average level of hardness
4 or more points out of 5 - extremely hard material
Deep: Density - how the various mechanics interact with each other and their arrangement throughout the entire combo. Are there any filler moments where the chain of rising difficulty is broken? The range of skill sets mastered and whether there are different interactions created by the linkages chosen beyond the mechanics that were needed for the separate tricks are included in this. In particular, complex interactions between the mod and hands e.g. Saltient's WT21 R5, or the mods with each other e.g. 0:13 of i.suk's WT21 R6 will be rewarded highly.
0 to 2 points out of 5 - many breaks in difficulty, few significant mechanics
2.5 to 3.5 points out of 5 - occasional breaks in difficulty, some significant mechanics shown
4 or more points out of 5 - few breaks in difficulty, large variety of significant mechanics which may require new interactions that build on ability in preceding trick variations.
Originality
Superficial: Novelty - whether the material, or similar material, has been done before and how often it has been done before. Ideas shown in short clips, short clip compilations, or submissions from smaller-scale collabs (collabs that are not representative of national-level skill) are not penalised if reused.
0 to 2 points out of 5 - combo consists of material (or very similar variations) that have been shown before many times
2.5 to 3.5 points out of 5 - combo consists mostly of uncommon material that might have appeared in somewhat related forms before
4 or more points out of 5 - combo consists mostly of material that has rarely been shown before
Deep: Conception - whether there are deeper overarching abstract ideas explored or conveyed. As Multipen is early in its development and involves many complexities in tricks, mechanics and effects, higher weight has been allocated to reward innovation. [Multipen has indeed developed a little more nowadays, but I still will reward innovation more than other aspects]
0 to 2 points out of 5 - combo does not convey any further intention beyond showing that the spinner is capable of performing the material
2.5 to 3.5 points out of 5 - there are some overarching ideas or impressions explored, but the ideas or depth are a small step above existing combos and perceptions
4 or more points out of 5 - the material comes together to represent a deeper perception of PS and requires a high level of mastery and planning to coordinate successfully, showing exploration of territory that was previously considered to be beyond comprehension or answers questions that were considered unanswerable.
Presentation: Up to -2 point deduction depending on how detrimental the presentation is to understanding the material.
